Seven Dhaka University (DU) affiliated college students, from 2011-2012 academic session, have gone on a day-long hunger strike on Sunday morning, demanding the results from their honours final year examination.
The students have gathered and gone on strike at the Central Shaheed Minar premises around 10am.
Md Riaz Ahmed, an Accounting student from Titumir College told the Dhaka Tribune that they can’t apply for jobs, since the minimum requirement is a passing the honours final examination. It has been seven months since they had last completed their exam on February 3.
He has demanded the results of 2011-2012 academic session for the seven colleges affiliated with DU immediately, otherwise a bigger demonstration will follow.
“National University published the results for 2011-2012 academic sessions while Dhaka University yet hasn’t,” Riaz added.
A group of six students met with Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman of Dhaka University to discuss about their demands.
The seven DU affiliated colleges are Begum Badrunnesa Government Mohila College, Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardi College, Government Titumir College, Kabi Nazrul Government College and Mirpur Government Bangla College.
