Nahid: Stern action against question paper leakage

Stern action would be taken against the people involved in the leakage of question papers, education minister Nurul Islam Nahid has said at a meeting in the conference room of BG Press.

The minister made this statement Tuesday while addressing the issue of holding the upcoming Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Dakhil Certificate Examinations in a peaceful atmosphere. The JSC and JDC examinations are scheduled to begin on November 1 simultaneously across the country.

The minister also directed law enforcement agencies to keep individuals and organisations, especially coaching centres, under surveillance to contain the leakage.

A research report conducted by TIB, which was unveiled this month, identified the possible reasons behind recurring question paper leakage at coaching centres, which play a leading role in the market by collecting questions and photocopies of test questions, and creating a network of distribution for students and parents.

The security of BG Press has been tightened to thwart any untoward incident, the minister said.

"Unethical practices by teachers constrain the development of students as a human resource in the country. The teachers will surely face trial for their misdeeds," said the minister.

Pointing out the role played by social media, Nahid said: “Propaganda over question paper leakage using mobile phones and the internet undermines the achievements of the government in education.

"I urge examinees and guardians to remain alert to such propaganda. We have taken adequate measures to check question paper leakage and other unethical practices," he added.
