Timothy R Johnson lost his parents to a serial killer when he was a child. His 11-year-old sister was raped, another sister got pregnant at the age of 13.
The series of tragedies did not diminish his resolve.
“My entire childhood was a race. I was avoided by my friends but it mattered very little. I had just one goal – to make money. I make money because I choose this, I love to make cash,” Timorthy said to a Bangladeshi audience at The Winners Circle Presents "Talks to Inspire Bangladesh."
A total of 19 success stories – nine foreigners and 10 locals – spoke about the barriers they faced on their way to success on Saturday at Gulshan club, Dhaka.
One of the success stories, KM Hasan Ripon, CEO of JobsBD, said: “The first step to success is to ask questions. The more you keep on asking, the more you realise what you really want.”
Entrepreneur, consultant and thought leader T Mark Pace said: “If you are afraid, you can never achieve. Just perceive, believe and achieve.”
Mike Kazi, CEO of Kazi IT Center Ltd said: “In 2009 I lost $7.3m for my hotel business. I wanted to kill myself, I felt like everything including my marriage was over. But now I feel it was absurd, because I overcame it.
“If you take care of the people, people will take care of the organisation,” Mike added.
The Winners Circle organised "Talks to Inspire Bangladesh" to inspire the audience to bring out the best in them.
