Mahdi Hasan, former member secretary of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement’s Habiganj district unit, was stopped by immigration authorities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday while attempting to travel to Jamaica.
Several intelligence officials stationed at the airport confirmed the matter.
Officials said Mahdi was sent back from the airport due to an objection to his travelling abroad.
Mahdi also confirmed the incident, saying he was scheduled to fly to Jamaica on an Etihad Airways flight at 9:35pm but was not allowed to leave.
He said he was on bail in all the cases filed against him but was still prevented from travelling abroad.
Police advised him to seek court permission before leaving the country, following which he left the airport premises.
