A man died after falling from the roof of the 16-storey BIRDEM Hospital building in Dhaka on Tuesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Dipu Sultan Rasel, 42, son of Imam Uddin and a resident of Rajab Ali Sardar Road in Kadamtali.
Md Nayeem, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ramna Model Police Station, said Rasel fell from the roof of the building at around 6:15pm.
On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and rescued him.
He was later taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 11:30pm, where the doctor on duty declared him dead upon arrival.
SI Nayeem said the body had been kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, he added.
