A youth died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after being stabbed by miscreants in the Shah Ali area of Mirpur in the capital.
The deceased is identified as Mehedi Hasan, 26, son of Mohammad Alam of the Faridganj area of Chandpur district. He had been living in the Shah Ali area of Mirpur.
The incident took place in the early hours of Monday. He was later rescued in critical condition and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors admitted him to Ward No. 102. Mehedi Hasan succumbed to his injuries at around 6:30am while undergoing treatment.
Inspector Md Habibur Rahman, in-charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Outpost, confirmed the death, citing doctors.
He said the body has been kept in the hospital morgue for an autopsy. The matter has also been reported to the police of the concerned police station.
He further said: “We have learned that Mehedi Hasan was critically injured after being stabbed by miscreants in the Shah Ali area of Mirpur. He was subsequently rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he died in Ward No. 102 while undergoing treatment this morning.”
