A Japanese company has submitted a proposal to operate and maintain the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Representatives of Sub Working Group submitted the proposal to the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) at its headquarters on Tuesday, said CAAB spokesperson Kawsar Mahmud.
He said Masahiru Hirai, representing the Japanese company, handed over the proposal to CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmud Siddiq.
Other CAAB members and representatives of the Japanese delegation were also present.
The company submitted separate technical and financial proposals as part of the process.
The proposals will be evaluated by an RFP Evaluation Committee formed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
The committee includes representatives from CAAB, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Authority and the Roads and Highways Department.
Under the evaluation process, the technical proposal will be assessed first, followed by the financial proposal.
After the evaluation, the authorities will hold necessary discussions and negotiations with the company. Once the negotiations are successfully completed, the contract date will be finalized following the prescribed procedure.
The third terminal is one of the country's largest and most important aviation infrastructure projects.
The project is expected to strengthen Bangladesh's aviation sector through modern technology, international-standard passenger services and more efficient operational management.
