Toufiq Nawaz, husband of Awami League leader and former minister Dipu Moni, died at a hospital in Dhaka on Tuesday night.
He died at 10:27pm at Continental Hospital, formerly United Hospital, Dipu Moni’s elder brother JR Wadud Tipu said, reports BDNews24
“He had been receiving treatment at the hospital for a long time,” Tipu said.
He added that a decision on the place and timing of Nawaz’s namaz-j-e-anaza and burial would be made after Wednesday noon.
Nawaz suffered a stroke in 2019.
On May 27, relatives took him to court in a wheelchair so that he could meet his wife, who was then in jail.
A Supreme Court lawyer by profession, Nawaz was also involved in the practice of classical music.
