A 34-year-old woman, Taslima Akter, has been killed after a bus struck an auto-rickshaw in the capital’s Sayedabad area. The driver of the battery-run auto-rickshaw was also injured in the incident.
The accident occurred on Monday evening near the Karatitola rail gate in Sayedabad.
The deceased, Taslima, was the daughter of Zainal Madbar of Bangshal Mahat Tuli. She lived with her husband, Rashid Ahmed Bappi, and their child at 73/1 South Sayedabad.
According to a relative, Md Nadim, Taslima was returning home from her father’s house by auto-rickshaw when a bus belonging to Tisha Paribahan hit the vehicle near the Karatitola rail gate. Both Taslima and the driver were seriously injured.
Nadim said he rushed to the scene upon receiving the news and took Taslima to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead after examination.
Locals have detained the bus involved in the incident, he added.
Inspector Md Faruk of the DMCH police outpost said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue, and the matter has been reported to the concerned police station.
