Content creator RS Fahim detained

Content creator RS Fahim Chowdhury has been detained by locals and a group of students in the capital’s Mirpur Zoo area and later handed over to police.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon, when he was apprehended in the area and subsequently handed over to Shah Ali Police Station.

Shah Ali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Jahangir Alam said that local residents had restrained him in front of Mirpur Zoo. Police later arrived and took him to the station. “We have learned that cases have been filed against him at different police stations in connection with the July incidents. We are currently verifying those matters,” he added.

Meanwhile, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement president Rifat Rashid wrote in a Facebook post that RS Fahim had been handed over to Shah Ali Police Station through a joint effort by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal.

On the other hand, following his detention, RS Fahim Chowdhury shared an emotional post on his verified Facebook page. In the post, he claimed innocence and described the incident as a “premeditated mob action”.

He wrote: “There is nothing I can say about this orchestrated mob, except to Allah. The truth will come out one day, and no one can impose falsehood by taking me away. I seek your prayers.”

Referring to his role during the movement, he further said: “Despite supporting the movement, what has happened to me will be revealed one day. All my activities remain on my page—you can judge for yourselves.”
