A pedestrian named Ashfaq Chowdhury Piplu was killed after an iron rod fell on his head from an under-construction building in Gulshan, the capital.
A case has been filed in connection with the incident.
The victim’s father-in-law filed the case at Gulshan police station on Friday.
The complainant, Sirajul Islam Talukder, named Concord Group Managing Director Shahriar Kamal, Chairman SM Kamal Uddin, project-in-charge Al Amin, and 10–12 unidentified individuals in the case. The case has been filed under Section 304A of the Penal Code for causing death by negligence.
Investigating officer Sub-Inspector Aziz Mahmud of Gulshan police station said the investigation is underway. Legal action will be taken against those responsible.
Piplu was employed at a multinational company in Gulshan.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon. His hometown is in Chittagong.
His father, Mohammad Naderuzzaman Chowdhury, is a former headmaster of Banigram Sadhanpur High School.
According to family sources, after finishing lunch, Ashfaq was returning to his workplace when an iron rod fell from the roof of an under-construction building in Gulshan and struck his head. He was critically injured and taken to United Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
