Hadi’s family to receive flat in Lalmatia

The family of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha, who was fatally shot and killed, will receive a 1,215-square-foot flat in the “Government Doel” Tower in Lalmatia, Dhaka.

The government is providing a special grant of Tk1 crore for the purchase and proper furnishing of the flat. Handover will be contingent upon verification of the identity of Hadi’s wife and child.

On Tuesday, 20 January, the Ministry of Finance approved the allocation, provided at the request of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works. Under the current fiscal year, Tk6 crore had been earmarked for “residential buildings,” from which this amount will be disbursed.

Meanwhile, the submission date for the investigation report on Hadi’s murder case has been postponed. Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zashita Islam has set 25 January as the new deadline for submitting the report.

Sharif Osman Hadi, an active participant in the July uprising and subsequent political movements, had announced his candidacy as an independent candidate from the Dhaka-8 constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election. On 12 December, while conducting public outreach in Bijoynagar after Friday prayers, he was attacked. Despite being airlifted to Singapore for advanced medical treatment, he succumbed to his injuries.
