Petrol bombs thrown at Mohammadpur school

Panic spread after miscreants hurled two petrol bombs at a school in Mohammadpur of the capital early Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 12:04am at Preparatory School in Iqbal Road, police said. No casualties were reported.

According to police sources, four miscreants on two motorcycles stopped in front of the school, threw two petrol bombs at the school gate and tin canopy, and fled immediately.

CCTV footage shows the motorcycles arriving at night — both riders wearing helmets while the passengers wore masks and caps. One of them got off, ignited the bombs, and hurled them at the school before escaping.

Confirming the incident, Mohammadpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Rafiq Ahmed said: “Two petrol bombs were thrown at the tin shed above the school gate. There were no casualties, and an investigation is underway.”

Police cordoned off the area soon after the attack and collected CCTV footage from nearby buildings. Investigators initially suspect the incident was a planned act of sabotage. Multiple police teams are conducting drives to identify and arrest those responsible.
