DNCC removes 125,000 illegal banners, festoons in a month

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has removed 125,000 illegal banners and festoons across the city over the past month, DNCC Administrator Mohammad Azaz said on Thursday.

He made the announcement after a departmental review meeting on banner and festoon removal activities held at Nagar Bhaban.

“We have removed about 125,000 banners and festoons in the last month. I urge everyone not to dirty the city with banners and festoons anymore. This is a very challenging task for our city workers,” the DNCC administrator said.

The meeting reviewed detailed statistics of the removal campaign conducted across 52 wards in DNCC’s 10 zones. Zone-3 saw the highest number of removals with 29,441 banners and festoons taken down, followed by around 25,000 in Zone-2, 18,000 in Zone-4, 12,000 in Zone-5, and about 11,000 in Zone-9.

Since last month, DNCC has designated 30 locations across the city where posters can be displayed free of cost. Simultaneously, the corporation launched a campaign to remove illegally placed banners, posters, and festoons.

DNCC officials said the city cleaning program will continue to ensure a cleaner urban environment.
