The dismissed BDR personnel had initiated a sit-in protest at the Kakrail Mosque intersection.

Despite repeated calls by police to vacate the area, the protesters refused to comply.

In response, law enforcers deployed water cannons and launched six sound grenades to disperse the gathering.

Several individuals, including both protesters and police personnel, sustained injuries during the clash.

Police also detained a number of demonstrators from the scene.

The protesters were later gradually pushed back toward the Matsya Bhaban area.

Earlier, around 11:45am, the dismissed BDR personnel had marched from Shahbagh towards Kakrail.

As police intercepted the procession at the Kakrail Mosque intersection, the demonstrators began a sit-in at the spot.

Prior to dispersing the protest, Masud Alam, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Ramna Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), proposed that a representative from the demonstrators be sent to Jamuna, the residence of the chief adviser and issued a 10-minute ultimatum for them to vacate the area.

However, the protesters rejected the proposal and declared that they would continue their sit-in, prompting police to remove them by force.

The dismissed BDR personnel have placed a three-point demand which includes: reinstatement to service with compensation, annulment of the controversial provision of the commission formed to investigate the Pilkhana carnage and restoration of the name “BDR” along with the release of imprisoned BDR members.
