Tension arose during the meeting of the National Consensus Commission when several political leaders were not given the opportunity to speak.
The incident occurred around 4pm on Wednesday at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, Bangla Tribune reports.
In protest, leaders from multiple political parties walked out of the meeting.
Among them were Ruhin Hossain Prince, general secretary of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Dr Mizanur Rahman, general secretary of Gono Forum, and Shahadat Hossain Selim, coordinator of the 12-party alliance.
However, some leaders later rejoined the meeting following assurances from the Consensus Commission.
