A police officer was killed after being hit by a train in Uttara, Dhaka, on Saturday night.
The incident occurred in the Uttara sector 4 area and was confirmed by Mohammad Zainal Abedin, an inspector at the Dhaka Railway police station, reports Bangla Tribune.
The deceased has been identified as KM Monsur Ali Sumon, 40, a sub-inspector (SI).
Mohammad said that Sumon had been serving as a SI at Dakshinkhan police station and was originally from Sujanagar upazila in Pabna.
He was returning home after work when the accident occurred, resulting in his death on the spot, Mohammad said.
On Sunday morning, Sumon's body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for an autopsy, he added.
