Detectives arrested Bengal Group Chairman Morshed Alam, former lawmaker for Noakhali-2, on Tuesday night in Dhaka's Gulshan area.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a drive and apprehended Morshed.
Muhammad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media and public relations) of the DB, confirmed the arrest.
The arrestee will be produced in court on Wednesday.
