Protest at DU in solidarity with Gaza

A protest is being held by students and the public in support of the "World Stop for Gaza" campaign at Dhaka University, demanding an end to Israeli genocide and the establishment of an independent Palestine.

On Monday, from 11am, students from various schools, colleges, and medical institutions, along with the public, gathered at the TSC (Teacher-Student Centre) of Dhaka University (DU) to begin the protest. As of the writing of this report, the protest is still ongoing.

During the protest, students and the public called for a boycott of Israeli products and urged everyone to unite in the fight to make Palestine independent.

They shouted various slogans such as "Naraye Takbir, Allahu Akbar," "We want to fight, we want to live by fighting," "Muslims of the world, unite and fight," "One, Two, Three, Four. Israel no more," among others.

Arif, a student from Adamjee Cantonment, has joined the protest. He told Bangla Tribune: "Isn't the world witnessing the genocide happening in Gaza? Where is the United Nations today? Where are human rights? Is human rights only for them? We are here to support Palestine’s campaign. The genocide in Palestine must stop immediately."

Students and the public are holding a namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayer) for the martyrs of Palestine at Shahbagh in the capital.
