The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)’s Gulshan Traffic Division has issued new traffic guidelines to maintain smooth and orderly traffic flow in the Gulshan and Banani areas of the capital.
The new directions were announced on Wednesday afternoon by the Gulshan Traffic Division.
These guidelines include restrictions on certain right turns and U-turns at locations such as Kakoli and Sainik Club.
The key points of the new instructions are:
- Vehicles coming from Mohakhali can take a U-turn at Sainik Club to head towards Banani or Amtali.
- All right turns and U-turns at Kakoli Crossing are prohibited. Vehicles heading to Gulshan or Banani can take a U-turn from the Banani Graveyard Crossing (this does not apply to buses or large vehicles).
- Buses and other large or heavy vehicles must use the Army Stadium U-turn.
The traffic division has said that these rules are being implemented on a trial basis, and future decisions will be made based on their effectiveness in improving traffic flow.
