Magura child rape survivor in critical condition after four cardiac arrests

The condition of an eight-year-old rape child rape survivor from Magura is deteriorating, with doctors reporting four cardiac arrests on Wednesday.

The girl, undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka, had been resuscitated each time through CPR, the Bangladesh Army said on Facebook late on Wednesday, urging the public to pray for the child's recovery.

The child is receiving treatment in the paediatric intensive care unit at CMH.

According to the post, she is undergoing regular tests following standard ICU protocols and receiving the highest level of medical care.

The child was suffering from severe electrolyte imbalance, requiring dialysis, the army said, adding that her blood pressure had dropped to 60/40 and continued to decline, alongside other complications.

A high-level medical board comprising CMH specialists was making all efforts to save the child's life using the latest medical procedures, it said.

The child was admitted to CMH in critical condition on the evening of March 8.
