Akhtar Hossain, the member secretary of the National Citizen Party, said that women are not safe anywhere—be it in workplaces, educational institutions, or even within family environments—which, he remarked, is a matter of great shame for the nation.
He made the comment while speaking to journalists on Saturday after visiting the child rape from Magura, at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Calling upon the people of the country, he emphasized that any act of oppression against women, whether minor or severe, must be resisted.
He urged citizens to take a more active role in handing over perpetrators to law enforcement.
Akhtar Hossain further said that crimes such as rape continue to rise due to the lack of proper justice. Therefore, he believes that a fundamental reform of the country’s judicial system is essential.
