Bangladesh Democratic Students' Council pay tribute to July uprising martyrs

The newly formed student organization, the "Bangladesh Democratic Students' Council," launched its first program on Saturday, which involved paying tribute to the graves of those killed in the July uprising at the Rayerbazar Intellectuals' Cemetery.

The full organization consists of 205 members, with Abu Baker Mojumder, the coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, serving as the convener.

The member secretary is Jahid Ahsan, the office secretary of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, while Tahmid Al Mudassir serves as the chief organizer, and Ashrefa Khatun as the spokesperson.

The central joint conveners include Touhid Mohammad Siam, Nurul Gani Sagir, and Jubair Hossain, along with students from public, private, and national universities.

The organization's leaders and activists began their journey at 12pm from the vice-chancellor's office of Dhaka University (DU).

The program is being conducted in coordination with both the central and Dhaka University committees.

Abdul Kader, the convener of the Dhaka University chapter of the Democratic Students' Council, told Bangla Tribune: "This is our first program."

Central Joint Convener Sohel Rana Sabbir said: "We will not hold any rally or gathering. We will only pay our respects at the cemetery and then leave."

Also present at the event were General Secretary Mahir Ahmed of the Dhaka University chapter, and Joint Convener Mahiyuddin of the central committee, along with several other members from both the central and Dhaka University chapters.
