Asif Mahmud: Awami League must be eliminated ideologically, politically

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has said there is no scope for the Awami League to contest elections, emphasizing that the party must be ideologically and politically eliminated.

The Awami League, ousted from power amid protests, must first be brought to justice for its wrongdoings, Asif said while attending the interim government’s Festival of Youth event at Adamjee Cantonment College in Dhaka on Wednesday.

He said fascist forces had no place in Bangladesh's elections.

A truth commission would guide the country's future political landscape, said Asif, who is also the local government adviser, urging everyone to unite in building a new Bangladesh.

Additionally, he addressed a recent attack at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (Kuet), saying law enforcement had been instructed to swiftly bring those responsible to justice.
