Authorities advised commuters to avoid the Mohakhali-Gulshan and Agargaon-Mirpur roads and seek alternative routes to minimize delays.
Heavy traffic congestion has gripped Dhaka since Sunday morning, the first working day of the week, due to multiple road blockades and increased pressure from vehicles and pedestrians following the final prayer of the Bishwa Ijtema.
The situation has worsened due to two separate protests disrupting key roads.
Injured protesters from the July uprising have been blocking Agargaon Road and Mirpur Road near Shishu Mela, demanding treatment abroad, compensation, and state recognition.
The protesters gathered in front of the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor) at 11am and have since occupied the roads, causing severe traffic congestion.
Earlier, they began their demonstration at 6pm on Saturday inside Nitor premises in Agargaon. By 10:30pm, they moved onto the streets, resuming their blockade on Sunday morning.
Meanwhile, students of Titumir College have been on a hunger strike for the fifth consecutive day, demanding that the government-run institution be declared a university.
At around 12pm, they blocked the Mohakhali-Gulshan road in front of Titumir College, using bamboo to obstruct traffic.
However, the students withdrew their railway and main road blockade plans due to the final prayer of the Bishwa Ijtema.
Initially, they planned to block railway tracks and the Airport-Banani main road, but instead, they took position on the Gulshan-Mohakhali connecting road to continue their protest.
