Shahbagh police station OC Mohammad Khalid Mansur confirmed the matter.

He said: 'Sarjis Alam has filed a case alleging that he is being cyberbullied due to derogatory comments about him on Facebook. Such cases are investigated by the cybercrime unit. He has provided links to Facebook pages and some images. I cannot say anything without verifying these. Legal proceedings are underway, and everything can be said after the investigation.'

In his statement, Sarjis Alam mentioned that on Wednesday at 11:20am, he logged into Facebook and found that two pages named 'Department of Bakshal, University of Dhaka' and 'Criminals DU' were spreading fabricated information against him.

A post was uploaded with edited screenshots of chats from one of his unused WhatsApp accounts.

The post made false and defamatory allegations against him.

The statement further alleges that the post falsely claimed that Sarjis had resigned from the post of General Secretary of the July Memory Foundation due to being expelled.

The statement also mentions that these two pages were posting extremely defamatory, misleading information, edited screenshots, and vulgarly edited images against him.

These actions have allegedly caused irreparable damage to his personality and character.
