Writ filed for probing allegations of graft against NCTB chairman

A writ was filed at the High Court on Tuesday, seeking its direction to investigate allegations of corruption against the chairman of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).

Supreme Court lawyer Md Kamal Hossain filed the writ, naming the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) chairman, the Education Secretary and other relevant officials as respondents.

"NCTB has issued work orders for printing books without inviting fresh tenders, despite the fact that the owners of the printing presses submitted tenders approximately 21% higher than the estimated price," Md Kamal Hossain told reporters.

He also said that by issuing the work orders, NCTB has caused a waste of public funds.

After initially submitting an application to the ACC, he subsequently filed the writ.
