Security has been tightened around the Indian Embassy area in Dhaka following a call for protest to block the embassy by the Bangladesh Civil Society.
From Tuesday afternoon onwards, law enforcement officers have taken position at various entrances to the Indian Embassy.
Heavy security arrangements have been observed at Shahjadpur Bashtola, a major route leading to the embassy.
On the ground, no one is allowed to pass through the road from Bashtola to the Indian Embassy, except for residents.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Gulshan division has set up barricades on the road leading to the embassy, halting traffic.
Additionally, army personnel are also deployed for the embassy's security.
The protest has been called in response to an attack on the premises of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, Tripura, India by supporters of several groups, including the Hindutva faction Hindu Sangharsh Samiti, in response to allegations of minority persecution in Bangladesh.
The police further mentioned that additional security measures have been in place since Monday night, with the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Diplomatic Security Division overseeing the arrangements.
After the attack on the Bangladesh High Commission in India, senior police officers have issued various directives to ensure the safety of the embassy. Accordingly, preparations have been made.
