A gas cylinder explosion in Mirpur early on Sunday left seven people, including children, injured.
The incident occurred at dawn, and by 7am, the victims were rushed to the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for treatment.
The injured have been identified as Abdul Khalil, 40; Ruma Akhter, 32; Abdullah, 13; Mohammad, 10; Ismat, 4; Swapna, 25; and Shahjahan, 34.
Dr Md Shawon Bin Rahman, a resident doctor at the institute, confirmed that Abdul Khalil sustained severe burns over 95% of his body, while Abdullah and Mohammad suffered burns covering 38% and 35% of their bodies, respectively. These three individuals have been admitted to the hospital, while the other four are under observation.
