Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) is actively working to repair potholes and ditches on various roads under its jurisdiction.
Many of these roads have already been repaired, and the remaining repairs are expected to be completed by the end of October.
As a result, city residents can expect to see the benefits of these renovations by November.
Under the direction of AF Hassan Ariff, adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, Cooperatives, and the Ministry of Land, and the supervision of DSCC Administrator Md Nazrul Islam, the engineering department is working diligently to achieve this goal.
Adviser Ariff highlighted the public's difficulties caused by potholes and ditches on several roads following the heavy rains in August and September.
He visited the Lalbagh area on September 28, where he directed city authorities to "quickly repair potholes and ditches on all roads, including those in Lalbagh."
In response, newly appointed DSCC Administrator Md Nazrul Islam instructed the engineering department to take immediate action. To ensure the timely execution of these repairs, he has been actively supervising the work, including on holidays.
Several major roads have already undergone repairs, including Syed Nazrul Islam Sarani, Mirpur Road, Dhakeshwari Main Road, Education Board Area, Nilkhet Road, and Lalbagh Road, among others.
Repairs have also been made in areas like Hatirpool Bazar, Shahbag intersection, Science Lab intersection, and Jatrabari.
DSCC Administrator Md Nazrul Islam said: "Reducing the suffering of city residents is one of our primary goals. Thanks to the guidance of Local Government Adviser AF Hassan Ariff and the continuous efforts of the engineering department, we have already repaired many roads. The remaining work will be completed this month, and from next month, the city will enjoy the full benefits."
He added that some roads will be reconstructed where necessary once the rainy season is completely over. Tenders have already been issued for the construction, reconstruction, and complete renovation of many roads. These major works will begin after the monsoon ends, providing long-term benefits to residents.
