The Dhaka University administration has suspended the residential accommodations of eight students involved in the incident of mob lynching at Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall and announced their temporary expulsion from the university on Saturday.

According to a notification sent by the university's public relations office, the accused students include Jalal Mia from the Department of Physics (2018-19 session), Mohammad Suman from the Department of Soil, Water and Environment (2020-21 session), Mottakin Sakin from the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science (2020-21 session), Al Hossain Sajjad from the Department of Geography and Environment, Ahsan Ullah from the Department of Mathematics (2018-19 session), and Wazibul Alam. Six of these students have already been handed over to the police by the university administration.
The other two students are Mohammad Firoz Kabir from the Department of Plant Science (2020-21 session) and Mohammad Abdus Samad from the Department of Physics.
The notification also states that the provost of Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall, Professor Dr Shah Md Masum, has been replaced by Professor Dr Md Elias Al-Mamun from the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology as the new provost of the hall.
