Nahid’s family denied entry to DB office

Family members of Nahid Islam, one of the several quota reform movement coordinators currently in Detective Branch custody, on Sunday said they were turned away from the DB's Minto Road office when they attempted to visit him there.

Family members, including his mother, Momtaz Begum, two aunts, an uncle, and his wife, had been trying for nearly an hour and a half to enter Minto Road.

Nahid’s mother, Momtaz Begum, said: “We wanted to visit Nahid at the DB office, but the police did not allow us to enter Minto Road. When Nahid’s wife and aunt spoke with the police, they were told that entry was not permitted.”

Police set up barricades on both the eastern and western sides of Minto Road around noon. The DB office is located in between these barricades.

Access to Minto Road was restricted for both vehicles and pedestrians, and additional police personnel were deployed in the area.

Nahid’s family attempted to enter through the eastern side of Minto Road but were turned away by members of the Armed Police Battalion. Detectives, local police, along with the APBn, were stationed on Minto Road.
