Violence in Dhaka: More than 1,200 land in jail over 5 days

Courts in Dhaka have ordered 1,258 individuals to be sent to jail in connection with various cases filed with different police stations across the capital over the past five days, following violence linked to the quota reform movement.

This information was confirmed by a court source on Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday, 474 individuals arrested in 37 cases related to sabotage, vandalism and arson were presented in court.

The investigating officers requested their detention, and after a hearing, the court denied them bail and ordered them to be sent to jail.

Among the detained are leaders and activists of the BNP, Jamaat and affiliated organizations.
