Quota reform movement: 7 JnU Chhatra League leaders resign

Seven leaders of the Jagannath University (JnU) unit of Chhatra League have tendered their resignations in protest against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's remarks on the quota reform movement and the attacks on general students.

They announced their resignations through a series of Facebook posts from Sunday night to Tuesday.

The leaders who resigned from their positions are Mahmudul Hasan Sami, vice president of the Bangla Department, Taosif Kabir, vice president of the Chemistry Department, Roni Sarkar, vice president of the Psychology Department, Md Ashiqur Rahman, joint general secretary, Mahmudul Hasan Noman, vice president of the Geography and Environment Department, Afsana Mimi and Shinjan Basak of the Bangla Department.

Md Ashikur Rahman said in his Facebook post: "I am voluntarily resigning from my position as Joint General Secretary of the Chhatra League unit of the Psychology Department at Jagannath University."

Roni Sarker wrote on Facebook: "I am Rony Sarker, voluntarily resigning from the position of Vice President of the Chhatra League unit of the Psychology Department at Jagannath University."

Basak mentioned in a Facebook post: "I am voluntarily resigning from my position as Vice President of the Chhatra League unit of the Geography and Environment Department at Jagannath University. I wish to spend the remaining days as an ordinary student."
