DMP issues traffic advisory for Ratha Yatra on Sunday

One of the major religious festivals of Hindu followers, the Ratha Yatra of Lord Jagannath, begins on Sunday. The festival will conclude on July 15 with the return Ratha Yatra.

On this occasion, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has requested vehicles to use alternative routes in certain areas of the capital.

This information was confirmed by DMP’s Additional Deputy Commissioner KN Roy Niyati on Saturday afternoon.

He stated that various auspicious events have been organized in different temples for the Ratha Yatra.

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) in Dhaka has organized an eight-day event for the Ratha Yatra.

The main Ratha Yatra will begin at 3pm on Sunday from the Swamibag Iskcon temple in the capital, traversing various streets and concluding at the Dhakeshwari temple.

The return Ratha Yatra will start at 3pm on July 15 from the Dhakeshwari temple, taking a similar route and ending at the Swamibag Iskcon temple.

The primary Ratha Yatra will navigate through the following roads:

Starting from Swamibag Road at Swamibag Ashram (Iskcon, Dhaka) → Joykali Mandir Intersection → Ittefaq Intersection → Shapla Chattar → Dainik Bangla Intersection → Rajuk Crossing → Gulistan → Golapshah Mazar → Police Headquarters → Government Employee Hospital → High Court Mazar → Doel Chattar → Central Shaheed Minar → Jagannath Hall → Palashi → ending at the Dhakeshwari National Temple.
