Police foil Left Democratic Alliance’s bid to besiege home ministry

The Left Democratic Alliance’s besieging the Ministry of Home Affairs program has been obstructed by the police on Tuesday.

They were staging the program demanding the prevention of corruption, looting, money laundering, bank robberies, confiscation of assets inconsistent with the income of corrupt people and arrest of corrupt people, loan defaulters and money launderers.”

The incident took place in the capital’s Paltan intersection in the capital on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, the Left Democratic Alliance organized a protest rally in front of the National Press Club.

After facing police obstruction, the protesters pushed the barricade. Later, the leaders of the alliance took position at Paltan intersection at the request of the police.

Bazlur Rashid Firoz, coordinator of the alliance and general secretary of Bangladesh's Samajtantrik Dal (BSD), said: "The ruling party leaders say that the government has zero tolerance against corruption. When Benazir was the police chief and IGP of RAB, he illegally issued seven civilian passports. This the example of zero-tolerance!"

Sardar Bulbul Ahmed, patrol inspector of Shahbagh police station under Ramna Zone, said: "There are important institutions of the state in the area including the ministry. In order not to obstruct, we have coordinated with the leaders. We stopped them at the Paltan intersection with just a barricade. There were no scuffles or casualties.”
