Dhaka experienced light rainfall on Saturday morning amid the ongoing heat alert in four divisions including Dhaka, lowering the city’s temperature and bringing some relief to the residents.
Although government offices and courts are closed on Saturday, many private institutions remain open.
However, the office goers were not seen to suffer in the light rain. Some had umbrellas, while others walked to the destination ignoring the rain.
Light rain was reported in different areas of the capital including Gabtoli, Kalyanpur, Shyamoli, Agargaon, Farmgate, Kawran Bazar, Asadgate, Mohammadpur, Dhanmondi, Jigatala, New Market and Banglamotor areas.
Meanwhile, the Met Office said the heatwave may continue across the country till Saturday evening. After that, there may be thunderstorms in some places of Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and two or more places in Rangpur, Dhaka and Barisal divisions. Scattered hail may occur. Due to these reasons, the heatwave may reduce in some areas from Sunday.
Meanwhile, the weather forecast till 6pm has informed that there may be temporary rain or thunderstorm with gusty wind in some places of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and in one or two places of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Barisal divisions. Along with that, there may be scattered hailstorms at some places. Apart from that, the weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky elsewhere in the country.
Mild to moderate heatwave is flowing over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Barisal divisions along with Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Chandpur and Feni districts and it may continue.
Daytime temperature may drop slightly in the eastern part of the country and it may remain almost unchanged elsewhere. Night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country.
The forecast for the next 24 hours from 6pm on Saturday said that there may be temporary rain or thundershowers at some places in Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places in Rangpur, Dhaka and Barisal divisions. Along with that, there may be scattered hailstorms at some places. Apart from this, the weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies in other parts of the country.
The ongoing heatwave conditions may ease at some parts of North and North-Eastern parts of the country. The day temperature may drop by 1-2°C across the country and the night temperature may drop slightly.
