The final body from the Bailey Road fire incident has been handed over to the family following confirmation of identity through DNA profiling on Tuesday.
The body has been identified as Md Nazmul Islam, 26
CID Inspector Masud Parvez handed over the body from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue to Nazrul Islam, father of the deceased.
Anwar Hossain, the deceased's uncle, said: “We received Nazmul's body after 12 days. He was a BBA student from Brac University. He lived with his family at Rampura’s Banashree area.”
On the day of the incident, he had gone to eat at a restaurant at Bailey Road’s Green Cozy Cottage building with his friends.
Nazmul's father said: “After so many days, I got my son's body.”
He urged the hotel businessmen to work carefully.
“May such incidents never happen again, may no mother's arms be empty again,” he added.
