Six robbers were arrested while preparing to rob in front of Karwan Bazar Karupatti Jalalabad Saw Mill under Tejgaon police station in Dhaka Wednesday night.
The arrested robbers are - Md Johnny, 29, Zahir Sardar, 19, Md Faisal Bepari, 25, Md Jeevan, 52, Md Akkas Ali, 37, and Md Asif, 20.
At that time, three knives and two blades were seized from them.
The arrested were walking around with knives at their waists and blades under their tongues.
Their motive involved taking pedestrians hostage and robbing them.
The robbers have multiple cases against them and have also been jailed multiple times.
Tejgaon police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mohsin said that the detainees were engaged in various professions, including daily labourers, and shopkeepers. However, they were known to engage in robbery during the night, forming groups in secluded areas.
The robbers would target lone pedestrians, capture them, and take away their belongings. If anyone attempted to intervene, the robbers would use knives and blades, causing injuries. The arrest was made based on secret information, the police officer added.
