Volunteer trying to save parrot dies of burn injuries

One of the three workers of the volunteer organization "RobinHood The Animal Rescuer" died after being burnt while rescuing a parrot stuck in an electric wire in Keraniganj, Dhaka.

The animal rescuer named Md Atif Islam, 30, died while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Thursday midnight. He lived in Lalbagh area of Dhaka.

Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) police outpost, confirmed the information.

He added that another worker of RobinHood is under treatment.

Quoting the doctor, he said: “85% of Atif's body was burnt. Three people from RobinHood were brought to hospital yesterday (Thursday). One of them went back home after getting first aid."

A parrot got stuck in an electric wire in Hasanabad area of South Keraniganj on Thursday. Volunteers of "RobinHood The Animal Rescuer" organization went to rescue the bird after receiving the news. Three of them sustained burns in the incident.
