A police constable has been injured as a cocktail exploded at a police box in Banani on Tuesday, the first day of BNP’s three-day blockade.
The incident took place at around 7:30am, said Banani police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman.
He said that a man on a motorcycle came near the police box and threw the cocktail. He later quickly fled from the spot.
The OC added that they are looking into CCTV footage and talking to witnesses to identify the attacker.
The BNP on Sunday announced that it would enforce a blockade on highways, railways and waterways across the country from Tuesday morning till 6pm on Thursday.
Like-minded parties and allies, who want to bring down the Awami League government, are in support of the blockade, with the Jamaat-e-Islami showing solidarity with the program on Monday.
Leaders currently in hiding acknowledged the difficulty of coordinating the blockade from secret locations but said they had already planned out the various stages of their movement.
