Minister: Social movements must to combat sound pollution

Social movements should be formed to control noise pollution, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin has said.

“Different types of special programs are being organized. All concerned, including drivers, will be trained to control noise pollution. To be successful in this work, the help of the media will be taken to raise public awareness through a massive publicity campaign,” he said near the Secretariat to observe a one-minute silence program on Sunday.

The bustling capital city of Dhaka on Sunday morning observed a one-minute silence program as part of the government's campaign to increase public awareness about noise pollution.

At the invitation of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, more than 60 banks, educational institutions, and other organizations participated in this program.

The capital was kept noise-free for one minute from 10am to 10:01am.

Besides, special programs were held at 11 important points in Dhaka city from 9:30am to 10am. 

The programs were held in front of Osmani Auditorium next to the Secretariat, Shahbagh intersection, Uttara, Bijoy Sarani, Mirpur-10, Gabtoli, Moghbazar, Mohakhali, Gulshan-1, Basabo, and Jatrabari intersection.
