TCB to sell onion at Tk35 to cardholders

The government has decided to sell onions at Tk35 per kg among the family card holders of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) in Dhaka city.

The state-run agency will start selling onions at nearly one-third of the existing market price in a phased manner from Monday, according to a TCB press release issued on Sunday.

Each of the cardholders will be allowed to buy two kg of onion at a time. TCB will supply imported onions upon their arrival in the country.

Sugar, soybean oil and lentils are usually sold to TCB family cardholders.

However, rice was sold in some months, and now onions have been added to the system, allowing cardholders to buy goods at lower prices than the market.
