A newborn boy was stolen from the maternity ward of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday.
Sources at the DMCH said the incident took place around 2pm on Thursday.
Hiron Mia, the father of the stolen newborn, said the boy was born on Monday through C-section at the hospital and was being breastfed by another woman.
Hiron went to Rupnagar in the Mirpur area to bring lunch, keeping his wife Shahana and mother at the hospital.
In the meantime, someone stole the baby from the mother.
After being informed, a team from Shahbagh police station rushed to the spot and is working to find the newborn, said DMCH police outpost in-charge Inspector Bacchu Mia.
According to hospital sources, the newborn is the first child of Hiron and Sahana.
