The Russian House in Dhaka, together with the Liberation War Affairs Academy Trust and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, organized a series of events honouring the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s victory in the War of Independence.
The commemorative celebrations were launched by State Minister of Public Administration Farhad Hossain.
The minister discussed the role of the Soviet Union in the war for freedom in Bangladesh, as well as the role it had in the development of Bangladesh's post-war economy.
He also noted that it is difficult to imagine modern Bangladesh without Russia’s help.
In his speech, Maxim Dobrokhotov, director of The Russian House in Dhaka, thanked the minister for his kind words addressed to Russia.
He honored the memory of those who sacrificed their lives and congratulated all living veterans for their service.
In honor of this significant anniversary, a photo exhibition was held at The Russian House in Dhaka for a week, along with a few commemorative events.
