A Dhaka court has granted police three days to interrogate a city corporation employee over the death of a college student after he was run over by a garbage truck.
Nayeem Hasan, a second-year student of Notre Dame College, was killed on Wednesday at Gulistan in an accident involving a vehicle of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
A proxy driver, later identified as cleaner Rasel Khan, was behind the wheels of the truck when the accident took place.
The victim’s father filed a case with the Paltan Model Police Station the same day.
On Thursday, police produced Rasel in court and moved a petition seeking seven days’ remand, but Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain granted three days.
