Dhaka University student found dead in hotel room

Police found the body of a Dhaka University student in a hotel room in Dhaka late on Wednesday.

Twenty-five-year-old Adnan Sakib, an International Relations student, was found hanging from the ceiling, said Shahbag police OC Moudud Howlader.

A note was found in the hotel room, in which Sakib said no one but “mental pressure” was to blame for his death, according to the police officer.

Earlier on Wednesday, Sakib’s wife, also a Dhaka University student, filed a missing report with the police as he could not be reached over the phone throughout Tuesday night.

Police tracked Sakib’s location through his phone to find him dead at the hotel in the capital’s Segunbagicha.

Quoting family members, police said Sakib had been suffering from mental health issues for some time.

The body was sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

The cause of death can be determined after receiving the autopsy report, OC Moudud said.
