91st anniversary of Rabindranath’s visit to Russia celebrated

The Russian House in Dhaka has celebrated the 91st anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore's visit to Russia.

On this occasion, the Russian House organized a special function at its Dhanmondi office on Wednesday. 

Director of the Russian House Maxim Dobrokhotov was present as the chief guest at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that Rabindranath Tagore in his letter had described Russia as a developed country at the time. 

Many of his literary works have been translated into Russian. Besides, the musical composition in a Russian film has also been made on the lines of a poem by Rabindranath Tagore, Dobrokhotov added.

Retired Chittagong University Prof Moniruzzaman, Liberation War Academy Chief Adviser and Trustee Azizur Rahman, and Muktijuddho Academy Trust Chairman Dr Abul Azad were also present at the event.

In the second phase of the program, artistes Reena Amin, Arif Hossain and Sharif Ashrafuzzaman performed Rabindra Sangeet, which was followed by a dance performance by Pramita Barman.
