A school teacher was killed when two buses collided in the capital’s Demra area on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Abdul Malek, 52, a teacher at Dhitpur Hazi Md Lal Mia High School.
His wife Farida Begum said: “My husband went to a pharmacy to buy medicine for his mother. When he stopped in front of a parked bus near the Demra Staff Quarter, another bus hit it, leaving him severely injured.”
He was rushed to Banasree’s Farazy Hospital in critical condition. From there, he was taken to the emergency ward of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the doctors pronounced him dead at 7:35pm.
Sub-Inspector Md Shahjahan of Demra police station said that they had arrested the bus driver and the helper, and also seized the bus.
