Dhallywood actor Ferdous Ahmed has bought nomination papers from the Awami League to contest the upcoming by-election to the Dhaka-17 constituency.
The “Hothat Brishti” actor collected the form from the political office of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina in Dhanmondi on June 5, according to media reports.
MP and Ferdous's fellow thespian Akbar Hossain Pathan, popularly known as Farooque, died while undergoing treatment at Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital on May 15, leaving the seat vacant.
Several celebrities, including Hero Alom, have expressed their interest in contesting the by-polls to the constituency since then.
